This. 2015 TDI SEL owner. Had EXACT problem. Disappeared when I brought it in to look at, but service had seen that before, diagnosed it as the AdBlue sensor, and replaced it under warranty. That fixed it for me for about 6 months. Had the same problem again, it was fixed it again, and has since worked for nearly a year now.
Not always. Sometimes, the SCR system needs to be reset by the dealer. Plus, if she wasn't getting the "countdown" message before this, there could be a problem with the system (bad sensor, etc). When I put the gallon in a few laters to mileage went back up on the warning. now I am low again. When it got down to the 10-mile warning, I added an extra gallon of adblue. In driving more than 10 miles, now I have the red light that says it will not start again. But I just added a whole gallon of adblue to the adblue tank.
